How much ground does one pallet actually cover?
Every pallet is built for a 2-inch installed depth, which is the standard depth for beach pebbles in a landscape bed, border, or walkway. A 1.5-ton pallet (3,000 lb) covers about 150 square feet at that depth. The 1.4-ton pallets (2,800 lb) — Polished Black, Super Polished Black, and Tiger Striped — cover about 140 square feet, since the polishing process changes the stone's density and weight per cubic foot slightly compared to natural pebbles. Going deeper than 2 inches eats into coverage fast: at 4 inches, the same pallet only covers half the area.
Why do the polished colors cost two to three times more?
Polished Black, Super Polished Black, and Tiger Striped all go through a mechanical polishing process after sorting, which is what drives the price from roughly $8-9 a square foot for natural stone up to $12-16 a square foot for polished stone. That gloss finish looks sharp when it's installed, but it's worth knowing going in: polished pebbles can fade with prolonged, direct sun exposure. If the area you're covering gets full sun most of the day, a natural finish like Mexican Beach Pebbles or Diamond White will hold its look longer with less maintenance.
What does it actually cost to cover a 500 sq ft bed?
Take a 500 square foot bed at the standard 2-inch depth. With Mexican Beach Pebbles, that's 500 ÷ 150 = 3.33, so you'd round up to 4 pallets. At the listed price, 4 pallets of Mexican Beach Pebbles would run $4,650 before freight — but volume pricing kicks in above three pallets, so the real number on an order that size is usually lower than four times the single-pallet price. The fastest way to get the exact number is a quick quote request rather than doing the math off the list price once you're past three pallets.
How does shipping change what you pay?
Shipping method depends on pallet count, not distance. Orders under four pallets ship LTL freight with curbside unloading — the truck drops the pallet(s) at the curb or driveway edge. Orders of four pallets or more ship flatbed. Either way, delivery across Florida is next day in most cases; the Southeast U.S. takes 2-3 days, and we also ship to the Caribbean. Because freight cost depends on the delivery address, pallet count, and shipping method, it's quoted separately from the stone price — call or request a quote and we'll give you the landed total before you commit to anything.
Are there any other costs to plan for?
No. There's no online checkout — you call or submit a quote request, we confirm pricing and freight, and you pay by invoice. There's no markup for invoicing, no bag fees since nothing is sold in bags, and no cost beyond the pallet price and freight. The only variable most customers miss is rounding up to a full pallet: since pallets aren't divisible, a project that needs 160 square feet still requires two pallets of a 150-sq-ft color, with the extra stone left over for touch-ups later.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a minimum order?
Yes — one pallet minimum on every color. There's no bagged or by-the-scoop option.
Do you ship outside Florida?
Yes. Florida orders typically arrive next day; the rest of the Southeast U.S. takes 2-3 days, and we also serve the Caribbean.
Do polished pebbles really fade?
Yes, with enough direct sun exposure over time. Polished Black, Super Polished Black, and Tiger Striped can lose some of their gloss in full-sun locations faster than natural, unpolished colors will.
Can I use beach pebbles around a fire pit?
No — don't use beach pebbles in or around fire pits. They trap moisture and can crack or pop when heated.
How do I get an exact price for my project?
