One pallet of beach pebbles covers 140–150 square feet at the standard 2-inch depth, depending on which color you order. Most residential beds and walkways need 1–4 pallets; larger yards or commercial jobs run higher. Here's the coverage math and live per-color pricing so you can figure out your pallet count before you call.
How much area does one pallet of beach pebbles cover?
It depends on the pallet weight, and that varies by color:
- 1.5 ton pallets (3,000 lbs) cover approximately 150 sq ft at 2 inches deep. This is the pallet size for Mexican Beach Pebbles, Diamond White, Snow White, Mini Mixed, Mixed, and Salt and Pepper.
- 1.4 ton pallets (2,800 lbs) cover approximately 140 sq ft at 2 inches deep. This is the pallet size for Polished Black, Super Polished Black, and Tiger Striped.
Two inches is the standard installed depth for beach pebbles — deep enough to hide the landscape fabric or base underneath without wasting material.
How many pallets do I need for my square footage?
Divide your bed or path square footage by 150 (for 1.5 ton colors) or 140 (for 1.4 ton colors), then round up. A few common sizes:
- 100 sq ft — 1 pallet, either weight class
- 300 sq ft — 2 pallets (1.5 ton) or 3 pallets (1.4 ton)
- 500 sq ft — 4 pallets, either weight class
- 1,000 sq ft — 7 pallets (1.5 ton) or 8 pallets (1.4 ton)
Measure length times width for each bed you're filling, add them together, and run that total through the math above. If you're between numbers, round up rather than down — running short mid-install means waiting on a second delivery.
What does each color cost per pallet and per square foot?
Here's what's on the price list right now, converted to a per-square-foot cost so you can compare colors apples to apples:
- Mexican Beach Pebbles — $1,192.50/pallet (1.5 ton) — $7.95/sq ft
- Diamond White — $1,275/pallet (1.5 ton) — $8.50/sq ft
- Snow White — $1,295/pallet (1.5 ton) — $8.63/sq ft
- Mini Mixed — $1,325/pallet (1.5 ton) — $8.83/sq ft
- Mixed — $1,395/pallet (1.5 ton) — $9.30/sq ft
- Salt and Pepper — $1,425/pallet (1.5 ton) — $9.50/sq ft
- Polished Black — $1,645/pallet (1.4 ton) — $11.75/sq ft
- Super Polished Black — $1,945/pallet (1.4 ton) — $13.89/sq ft
- Tiger Striped — $2,195/pallet (1.4 ton) — $15.68/sq ft
Natural, unpolished colors are the budget-friendly end of the lineup. Polished finishes cost more per pallet and cover slightly less ground per pallet, since they're on the smaller 1.4 ton pallets — so the per-square-foot gap between natural and polished stone is bigger than the sticker price alone suggests. Volume pricing kicks in above three pallets, so if your job is running higher than a few pallets, ask for a quote rather than pricing off these per-pallet numbers.
Do polished colors hold up the same as natural stone?
Mostly, with one caveat worth knowing before you order: Polished Black, Super Polished Black, and Tiger Striped can fade with prolonged full-sun exposure. If the bed you're filling gets sun most of the day, a natural finish like Mexican Beach Pebbles or Salt and Pepper will hold its look longer with less maintenance. Polished stone still looks great in partial shade, courtyards, and pool decks with some cover.
Do I need more pallets if I install deeper than 2 inches?
Yes, proportionally. The coverage numbers above (150 sq ft and 140 sq ft) are both based on a 2-inch depth. Go to 3 inches and you'll cover about a third less ground per pallet — roughly 100 sq ft for 1.5 ton pallets and 93 sq ft for 1.4 ton pallets. Most residential beds don't need more than 2 inches; deeper layers are mainly for areas with heavy foot or vehicle traffic that push pebbles around.
How does pallet count affect delivery?
Orders under four pallets ship LTL with curbside unloading — the truck drops the pallets at the curb or driveway edge, and you move them from there. Orders of four pallets or more ship flatbed. Either way, Florida customers get next-day delivery in most cases, Southeast customers see 2–3 days, and we also ship to the Caribbean. There's a one pallet minimum on every order — no partial pallets.
Frequently asked questions
Can I order pallets in different colors to hit the minimum?
Yes. The one-pallet minimum applies per color, not per order — you can mix colors in a single delivery as long as each color ordered is at least one full pallet.
Can I check out online?
No — there's no online checkout. Request a quote or call us and we'll confirm your pallet count, get you a price, and invoice you directly.
Will polished black pebbles fade in Florida sun?
They can, over time, in full-sun spots. It's a cosmetic change, not a structural one, but it's worth factoring in if the bed gets sun most of the day — see the section above for which colors hold up better in full sun.
Not sure which pallet count fits your yard? Request a quote with your square footage and we'll confirm the exact number before you order.
